The following is a brief summary of my interview with Barbara Temple MA LPC. Barb is a licensed professional counselor at Credence Therapy Associates, a lay leader at Riverwood Community Church, and volunteer hospital chaplain. I addition to her work in counseling and pastoral care, Barb is a wife, and the mother of two teenaged children.

What are the BIG NEEDS we are facing in our community? What is breaking God’s heart?
- Divorce
- Alcoholism
- Parent-child disconnection
What are the GOOD THINGS that happening here that we should know
about… and who is doing them?
- Love, Inc: Love inc offers a wide variety of programs that help people.
- Local Churches: A lot of good things are happening in our churches and they keep people connected to God. It is also positive that the local pastors get along very well at a personal level.
- Community spirit: The people in the Burlington area are generally very friendly.
What could the local churches do to help strengthen, encourage, and/or
equip you and/or other leaders in our community to make a difference?
- More marriage enrichment and parenting education programs.
- More Support groups for things like divorce and grief.
- Dating/relationship education classes: As a therapist Barb comes across a lot of young people who are in very bad relationships and they need to learn what a healthy relationship looks like and how to make them happen.
