Captive Free West Lakes is one of the outreach groups for Youth Encounter. These groups of young adults minister throughout the United States for one year with a faith-encouraging program of music, testimonies, and puppetry to inspire people of all ages. Captive Free West Lakes is traveling through Arkansas, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi and Wisconsin leading youth nights, family nights, retreats, and vacation bible school programs.

Due to a last minute scheduling problem this team happened to be in our area and needed a place to stay. This is an opportunity for us to extend some basic hospitality to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

We want to thank the Hatlens and Harts for providing a place for this team to stay this weekend!

Ashley M. Corbett
Forest Lake, Minnesota

Ashley just graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris in May 2009 with Bachelor of Arts in International Business and Graphic Design. She was active on campus with the Relay For Life and played for the UMM Cougars softball team. Staying active playing sports is important to her, as well as photography, graphic design, playing guitar, and working with youth.
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, and persevere in prayer.” Romans 12:12

Ryan Noss
York Haven, Pennsylvania

Ryan was homeschooled his whole life in a small town in Pennsylvania. He has gone to church his whole life where he grew passionate for music and at the age of seven found Christ in a small room in his church. Through many hills and turns he tries to follow the path best he can, and he fails over and over, but knows he’s not perfect in any way, just forgiven. Ryan is excited for what God is going to do through and around him this year and the rest of his life.
“For God so loved the world that He sent His only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal live.” John 3:16

Justin Holdefer
Columbia, Maryland

Justin was born in Germany but now resides in Maryland. He began playing soccer at age five. He loves basketball and enjoys watching movies. He is a creative writer of short stories and songs. He has been a percussionist with his own set of drums since fourth grade. Justin plays drums every Sunday in the praise team at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was also involved as a youth leader in Teens Encountering Christ (TEC).
“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12

Jessica Steffen
Warren, Michigan

Jessica has a strong passion for the Lord. As of September 2008, she has completely given herself to God. He has done nothing but continually bless her through His Grace and Love. She has a very positive outlook on life and is amazed by God’s ways of working in it. She loves spending time with her family, meeting new people, sports and reading. She is excited to serve the Lord through Captive Free and cannot wait to see what He has in store for her.
“Many wise things have been said about love. But to really understand love in its purest form, we must go to the Author of Love. God is Love. And He decided to display this love through the most dramatic act in human history, the ultimate demonstration of love, Christ’s death on the cross. There is no greater example of love then this. It would take the coldest hearts to be unmoved by this dramatic demonstration.”

Kyle Meissner
Fort Worth, Texas

Kyle is a fun-loving, out going person who loves God. He enjoys playing basketball, golf and ULTIMATE! Kyle also enjoys playing the guitar and has been singing in youth group and church for about seven years. DO WORK IN HIS NAME!
“Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
