Do not distinguish the worthy from the unworthy. Let everyone be equal to you for good deeds, so that you may be able to also attract the unworthy toward goodness, because through outside acts, the soul quickly learns to be reverent before God.

Let them learn to seek the wealth of good wishes, and to be rich in holiness; the beauty of wealth consists not in the possession of money-bags, but in the maintenance of the poor. It is in the sick and needy that riches shine most. Wherefore let the wealthy learn to seek not their own things, but the things of Jesus Christ, that Christ also may seek them, and recompense to them what is their own. He spent for them His blood, He pours forth on them His Spirit, He offers to them His kingdom. What more shall He give, Who gave Himself, or what shall not the Father give, Who delivered up His Only Son to die for our sakes? Admonish them therefore to serve the Lord soberly and with grace, to lift their eyes with all diligence to heaven, to count nothing gain but what appertains to eternal life; for all this worldly gain is the loss of souls. He who desired to win Christ, suffered the loss of all things (Philippians 3:8), which saying, marvelous as it is, falls short of what he had received, for he speaks of external things only, whereas Christ hath said, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself (Luke 9:23); let him lose himself so that Christ be gained. Fleeting are all things here, they bring loss and not gain; that only is gain, where enjoyment is perpetual, where eternal rest is our reward.

These households had to show proof that they met state guidelines in terms of low income status. Last year at this time the Food Pantry served 306 households.

Did you know that the Love Inc Shoes For Kids program provided new shoes and school supplies to 535 school aged children this month? The number of kids served is up 22% from last year and the kids are still coming.

Did you now that Love inc provides financial counseling that includes direct assistance in managing the daily finances (including managing check books) of 38 low income households? Five years ago that number was 6 households, last year Love worked with 18 households. Helping families learn how to manage their resources, pay their bills, and stay of out debt has had a huge impact on the lives of these people and the well being of the larger community.

Did you know that last year 506 families, including 1,182 children were served in the Adopt-A-Family Christmas program alone and this year we expect the number of families needing Christmas assistance to be up dramatically.

Did you know that Love, Inc. is holding one of its largest fund raisers AKA The Toy Run for the Funds for Families and Adopt-A-Family Christmas programs on Sunday, September 7? Last year over 1,400 bikers brought in over $20,000 in donations to assist families with various needs. Love Inc supplies the volunteers to feed this huge crowd of Harley enthusiasts. Love, Inc. needs volunteers to make salads, help set up, serve and clean up the ChocolateFest Grounds that day. Please contact Dena Corey at Love, Inc. 262-763-6226 for more information, or stop by to pick up an aluminum salad container and your Love, Inc. T-shirt. The Vojta family has worked at the Toy Run making salads, serving food and helping with clean up for several years now. If you want more information about whether or not this would be a good service activity for you or your family please give us a call.

Did you now that Love, Inc is YOU..and people like you… who have given their time and money to help those in need to help themselves? Love Inc was founded by local churches to honor God and share the abundance of blessings they have received from God with others. Please consider the ways you can expand your service to those in need as you respond to God’s gracious provision for you and your family.

We will start after the service this Sunday at about 10:30 AM. Please come to church in your work clothes and join as as we bring down some trees, fix up the fire pit, weed the gardens, and do all sorts of other necessary jobs about our church home. After the clean-up we will eat some brats and other summer treats.

As we get together to do this yard work I am reminded of that fact that we have been the beneficiaries of an enormous amount of hard work and money offered up by the members of

Peace to keep our grounds looking beautiful. At the most recent council meeting we talked about how it would be a good thing to lift up to the congregation that the actual costs of maintaining our building and grounds are much higher than we are able to put in the annual budget. We thank God that we have had so many generous people just donate gas, materials, and most of all – time - to make sure our grounds reflect the glory that God reveals in nature. Your participation this Sunday will be a blessing to others and an exercise in good stewardship.
